The Seventh Python

Monty Python collaborator, Rutles co-founder and eclectic solo artist Neil Innes will take his one-man show on the road this October for a two-week tour of North America.

Innes, who is widely regarded as one of the most influential musical comedians of the last half-century, will launch the trek October 6 in Arlington, Mass and visit us in Paramus two days later.

The British musician/satirist got his start in the mid-'60s with the Bonzo Dog Band, and soon began contributing to Monty Python's many projects. He achieved widespread recognition when he and the Pythons' Eric Idle created the Rutles, a Beatles send-up.

Innes composed 20 Beatles parody tunes for "All You Need Is Cash," a 1978 film which featured John Belushi, Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Mick Jagger, Paul Simon and George Harrison.
An upcoming documentary entitled "The Seventh Python" details Innes' life and work, including a series of concerts in Los Angeles performed with a band composed of fans. The film also features a Rutles reunion show and appearances by celebrity fans and collaborators including Idle, Emo Phillips and Matt Groening.

Carla Rhodes

Carla Rhodes started out life as a baby. After being a baby for a few years, she became a child. Carla was never content with "just being a child" so at the age of nine she threw a temper tantrum and morphed into a ventriloquist after seeing Shari Lewis on television.

While Carla's peers were having growth spurts and applying Clearasil to their faces, Carla chose a more glamorous path. At the age of 13, she fluffed her hair, held her breath and began performing ventriloquism professionally near her hometown of Charlestown, Indiana.

A few years passed and stand-up comedy was added to her act, with her first comedy club appearance at the age of 15. Bored with being just a stand-up comedian and ventriloquist, Carla then added funny songs to her repertoire.

Always up for a challenge, Carla soon decided to persuade Mick Jagger, Keith Richards and David Bowie to join her show. The clouds opened up and rock and roll ventriloquism was born.

Lots of good stuff followed, such as performances in Las Vegas, New York City, and the United Kingdom. After that even more good stuff followed, such as appearing on the Today Show, MTV, the Learning Channel and Good Morning America. Carla even charted at #2 on the nationally syndicated Dr. Demento radio show with her song "I Love Animals"-- an ode to eating your pets. She continued her quest by invading people’s reading materials, showing up in everything from the New York Times to Time Out Magazine in London, England to MTV's Video Music Awards Program Book!

Now an international superstar at the age of 22 (and a college graduate too!), Carla resides in New York City and continues to bring mirth and merriment to adoring crowds across the world.
